One man in Georgia has passed away after being involved in a head-on crash that left at least one vehicle burning on the side of the road. Pictures show the car going up in flames while sitting next to a mailbox. Firetrucks and emergency workers can be seen in the background.
According to reports, one man was driving down Highway 80, and a UPS truck was coming toward him. A second vehicle was behind that delivery truck.
It appears that the driver of that second vehicle wanted to pass the UPS truck, and he or she pulled into the other lane to do so. This happened right when the first man was passing as well, and the two slammed into each other in a head-on collision.
Details on why this happened are sparse, as the man in the first vehicle was killed and the driver of the second vehicle suffered injuries and had to be rushed to the hospital. The man who passed away was just 48 years old.
Among the details that the police did release was the time of the accident. They got the first calls right around 2:55 p.m. They also noted that the person who lived through the wreck was taken to Augusta University Medical Center. Specifics on that person's injuries were not reported.
Agencies that responded to the wreck included the Georgia State Patrol, Burke County Fire Rescue and the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
Accidents can leave surviving family members in dire straights as they consider medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and much more. It's important for them to know all of their legal options.
